Frequently Asked Questions

To help prepare you for the best conference experience, read through the following sections for answers to the most frequently asked questions.

  • What should I bring to the conference?
    Bedding (if you don’t wish to purchase the linens package) Toiletries (e.g. shampoo, soap, razors, face cloth) Pen and notepad Business cards A reusable mug and/or water bottle Mobile phone and/or laptop with battery chargers Medications (e.g. prescriptions, ibuprofen) Earplugs (if you’re a light sleeper)
  • I am travelling with my family. Is childcare available?
    Yes. The conference will offer a ‘childshare’ childcare service during workshops for children aged 1-11 years. The aim of this service is to allow parents to participate in conference content as well as to enjoy the camp facilities with their children.   • Is alcohol permitted on site?
    No, however there is a good pub in town (approximately 15 minutes away) for those who would like to hoist a mug one evening.
  • What is Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre?
    Amidst breathtaking beauty, Stillwood is set in Columbia Valley, in the Lower Mainland of BC. Our prime 100 acres, enveloped in majestic trees, border on Provincial park land and overlook beautiful Cultus Lake, near Chilliwack. Meals of a high standard are served regularly, as old and new friends break bread together, the buzz around the tables amplifies the signature atmosphere of joy and celebration. The facilities and staff strike a balance between excellence and humility. Our summer camp programs host approximately 2,500 campers each summer. Throughout the year hundreds of guest groups visit our campus.
  • What amenities are available at Stillwood?
    Two dorm-style lodges: Each lodge can accommodate 100 guests, with 6-7 sets of bunks in 8 rooms each, and offers shared bathrooms (eight toilets, eight showers, eight sinks). Maple Lodge: Offers 12 hotel-style rooms complete with en suite bathrooms that can accommodate single guests and even families of 4 people. We have several lodges that will accommodate 19-40 people Our facility is wheelchair-accessible.
  • Can I request to be in the same room as my friend/colleague?
    Yes. Please make your cabin-mate request when you register.
  • Should I bring a sleeping bag and pillow?
    Yes. There is also an option to add a “linen package” to registration for $25 per bed for the duration of your stay. Linen package includes: sheets, blankets, pillow, pillow case, and bath towel.
  • How is Stillwood laid out?

  • Will I get cell phone reception at Stillwood?
    Cell coverage at Stillwood is usually great although it can be spotty in some of the accommodation buildings.
  • Will there be Wi-Fi internet available?
    There is limited Wi-Fi access at Stillwood.
  • I have a mobility issue. How is Stillwood accessible to people like me?
    Stillwood offers easy access to all buildings. All common areas have accessible washrooms and accessible building entrances. Please contact info@bccampingconference.ca if you have further questions.
  • Where is Stillwood located?
    Stillwood is located about 15 kilometers south of Chilliwack near the south end of Cultus Lake. See map.
  • What can I expect of meals during the conference?
    Stillwood prepares food for thousands of satisfied guests annually. In addition to tasty entrées, meals will include fresh baked goods, desserts, a variety of healthy salads, and hearty homemade soups.
  • Will snacks be available in between meals?
    Yes – lots of fresh fruit, cookies and other goodies (plus fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate) will be available throughout the conference. Help yourselves!
  • Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?
    Absolutely. Stillwood requires advance notice of any guest’s dietary needs. Please note any and all food allergies in your registration. We will contact you should we have any questions.
  • I have extreme allergies and would be more comfortable providing my own food. Is this okay?
    In extreme cases, Stillwood can accommodate a guest’s own food. However, our food service staff are regularly asked to service extreme dietary needs and always meet the challenge with flair, so we discourage people from bringing food on site.   • When does conference check-in open?
    You may check-in to the conference on Monday is between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Dinner will be served from 5:00 pm to 6:15 pm, so don’t be late!
  • When does the conference wrap up on Thursday?
    The conference ends with a final brunch Thursday at 10:00 am, after which everybody is free to return home (at approximately 11:00 am).

  • Where can I find out about workshops?
    All workshop descriptions, presenter biographies and schedules will be available here as soon as they are confirmed.
  • What activities can I enjoy at Stillwood between conference events?
    Stillwood offers many activities such as: a 42-foot climbing tower; a gym; an indoor games room with pool tables, ping pong, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard; Stillbucks Coffee Bar for great conversation; a hot tub for relaxing; Sky High Adventure, the three-tier ropes and obstacle course and zip lines on the “upper forty.” There will also be a Live & Silent Auction and daily live music.
